Michael M. Guza Jr. Obituary
Michael M. Guza, Jr., 84, of Coldwater, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Maple Lawn in Coldwater. The funeral will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Bob Montgomery from Word of Life Outreach Center officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. on Monday at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint. Visitation will be held, prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Michael was born March 4, 1934 in Flint, MI to Michael & Rose (Hursky) Guza, Sr. He married Patricia A. Jones on February 13, 1954 in Flint.
Mr. Guza graduated from Western MI University in 1954. He was a teacher and coach for many years at All Saints in Detroit, St. Alphonsus in Dearborn and Bishop Borgess in Redford. Mike then entered the restaurant business owning and operating The Nuggett in Howell and Party Time Pizza in Lansing. He returned to teaching at Jackson State Prison and then came to Coldwater to work at Lakeland Correctional Facility until his retirement. Mike was a member of Word of Life Outreach Center in Quincy, a skilled woodworker and carpenter. He enjoyed playing golf and basketball and watching sports, especially college teams. He was an avid MSU fan and would be greatly honored if you wore you MSU attire to his service.
Michael is survived by his wife Pat, his children Susan (Bob) Peddicord of Hillsdale, Theresa (Dino) Pizzino of Alpena, Mary (Dale) Buckner of Cornelius, NC, Tami (Neal) Healy of Keller, TX, Connie (Jim) Kozma of Louisville, KY, Mike (Holly) Guza of Sebewaing, Stacey (Brian) Abbott of Eustis, FL, his siblings Rose Demarais, David Guza and Alberta Hazelrigs and many grand and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Janet Bommarito, sisters JoAnn and Barbara and brother Donald.
