M. Jeanne Mann Gharis

M. Jeanne Mann Gharis, 83, of 611 Third St., Towanda, Pa. passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa.

Jeanne was born in El Paso, Texas on Feb. 5, 1931, the daughter of Robert Wiley Mann and Verna Aurora Wolcott Mann. She was a graduate of Austin High School in El Paso and subsequently attended the University of Texas at El Paso. Jeanne served as a classroom science aide at Norwalk High School in Connecticut for many years until her retirement. She was a member of the local caregivers support group and enjoyed animals and gardening.

Surviving are her children, David Malcolm Gharis of Towanda, Rebecca Jean Gallo of Woodlyn, Pa., Matthew Clinton Gharis of Woodlyn, Pa., Rachel Gharis-Goldberg and husband Michael Robert of Washington, Conn.; daughter-in-law, Lynn Carol Cadden and husband Michael of Norwalk, Conn.; grandchildren, Nicholas Robert Gallo and wife Lynne and their children, Zachary and Madelyn of Mt. Holly Springs, Pa., Rachel Leah Gallo of Collingdale, Pa., Jordan Elizabeth Gallo of Woodlyn, Pa., Joshua Matthew Gharis of New Haven, Conn., Aimee Lynn Gharis of New Haven, Conn., Cynthia Bernice Gharis and son Noah of Browns Mills, N.J., Meghan Starr Gharis of New Jersey, Jacob Gharis of New Jersey, Mitchell Minjoon Goldberg of Washington, Conn., Jacqueline Jeesoo Goldberg of Washington, Conn.; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Vade Giles of Abilene, Texas; niece, Elizabeth Mann of Washington, D.C.; and nephews, Gary and Jeffrey Giles. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William J. Gharis on June 28, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. with Rev. James Hollister, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Towanda, officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, El Paso, Texas.
