I had the privilege and good fortune to hire Fred at Northwestern University, and to see him contribute in many ways to our academic community at Northwestern. I will miss seeing Fred at conferences, chatting with him about hiking trails Back East and in Moab, and hearing about what would have been even greater contributions by Fred at Binghamton University. My heartfelt condolences to everyone in the Arnold family.

My heart goes out to The Arnold Family At times like this words cannot begin to make your sorrow any easier to bare so may the memories of Freddie be held close to your hearts and help ease your pain.
Although I only met Freddie a few times when I was younger when I'd stop to see my dad at the farm I knew he was a caring person just like the rest of the Arnold family.
God Bless
