George Silliman Obituary

George Bailey Silliman passed away Feb. 6, 2007, in Aurora, Colo.
He was born in Oneonta on Dec. 19, 1921, to Clifford W. Silliman and Velma D. Beach.
He graduated from Oneonta High School in 1939, and in 1942, married Edith F. Beers.
He served as a B-17 gunner instructor for the Army Air Force during World War II. In the mid-1950s, he and his family settled in San Mateo, Calif., where he worked in the sales field.
He moved to Colorado in 1978 after marrying Sandy Lomax in November 1974.
He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees in the days of Casey Stengel and the local Oneonta State College basketball team. His experience as a youth with the Boy Scouts of America led him to serve as a scoutmaster in San Mateo.
Later in life he enjoyed traveling with Sandy to Mexico, Florida and the Bahamas.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Lomax; his brother, Clifford R. Silliman; and his children with Edith Beers, Sidney Silliman, Bruce Silliman, Wendy Benoit and David Silliman.
His ashes will be interred in the family plot in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery on July 20, 2007.
