I had never seen Nancy, but only corresponded with her through the FISTS Club. When I received the latest FISTS newsletter today, and saw her kind face on the cover and saw the SK, I sat down on my front porch and was reminded how very short is our spark in this world.
I had never seen a picture of Nancy and had my own image in my mind whenever she answered my emails or renewed my membership in FISTS.
The picture you chose for the cover of the FISTS newsletter is flawless. I had no idea there was such a genuine, sweet and passionate face behind all those emails and membership emails.

My thoughts go out to her husband Tim and her parents. Amateur radio and Morse has lost a major pillar, a CW cornerstone, and a friend. 73, Nancy. Peace and Goodwill. BCNU agn om.

I had a close working relationship with Nancy while she was Editor of WorldRadio. Even after I left, we were in touch...for in some time.
Her passing was a shock, we hadn't spoken in a while.
She will be missed.
May God bless Tim and her family.

When I first signed onto FISTS, it was Nancy who called on the phone to welcome me to the CW club and to ask if I had any superstitions about numbers. I said no...but why? It was FISTS number 6666, she exclaimed and wanted me to know that it was an OK number of which she personally gave a stamp of approval. It was a fun call and I'll always remember her funny wit and deep sense of humor. I will miss you Nancy! -- Dennis K1LGQ dit-dit.

One of my passwords on my computer reminds me of Nancy every day. We always had a funny saying that we ended with on our emails to each other. The Last one was to me from Nancy: “Waiting for Snow Pirate”. Nancy will leave a big hole in the World of Amateur Radio for sure. … I called her the “Smoothest Key in the West”. You could not see her fingers move on the straight key. That was on “The Glass Arm DXpedition” in 2006, Belize. We pretended we were pirates of the Caribbean.
Will greatly miss my pirate buddy,

My brother [W4TZU SK] and I had "talked" about making Dayton sometime. After he passed away 12/10/99 and then my wife of 40+ years on 6/1/00 I was invited to go along with some local hams in 2001. One of the highlights of that trip and 4 trips later was meeting Nancy as the FISTS booth. Wish I had been more active on CW and maybe I could have had a QSO.
