Arthur F. "Art" Brooks

1933 - 2020

Oakdale - Arthur F. "Art" Brooks, 87, of Oakdale, passed away Thursday Dec. 10, 2020, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. Art was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Hartford, to J. Franklyn Brooks and Ruth Warner Brooks. He was married to his wife Jeanne Dickinson Brooks Dec. 11, 1954, and raised four children in Montville.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army throughout the Korean War, and afterward began a long career in public utilities, having worked for Hartford Electric Light Company, Connecticut Light and Power and Yankee Gas.

Art had many passions which included all things outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, boater, hunter, landscaper, gardener, Boy Scout leader and a dedicated member of the Oakdale Volunteer Fire Department. More than his many hobbies, he will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend to countless people whose lives he touched. He gave of himself wholly and with a pure heart. He will be remembered for his passion and sharp wit and always putting a smile on people's faces.

He was predeceased by his wives, Jeanne Dickinson Brooks and Kathleen Moretti Brooks; his daughters, Lisa Gallimore and Kimberlee Roe; and sisters, Jeanne Jamieson and Luella Pawlich. He is survived by his son Wayne Brooks; daughter Sandra Baker; grandchildren, Kevin Roe, Rachel Ayotte-Fleener and Lauren Gallimore; and numerous extended family.

As per his wishes, burial services will be private. The Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen is assisting with arrangements.
