Lawrence Richard Obituary

Uncasville - Lawrence "Larry" M. Richard, of Crescent Street, passed away Jan. 7, 2021 at Apple Rehabilitation and Care Center. He was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Norwich, the son of the late Michael and Anna Voech Richard.

He was a 1946 graduate of Norwich Free Academy and a 1949 graduate of Norwich Regional Technical School. He married Theresa Lefebvre Oct. 22, 1949, at St. Johns Church in Montville. She passed away May 9, 2018. He had served in the U.S. Navy, and then worked as a purchasing agent for United Electric Supply from 1966 to 1989. He retired from Higgins Electric in 1992.

Larry was a communicant of St. Johns Church in Uncasville and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He was a member of VFW Post 10060, American Legion Post 112, a life member of the Montville Fire Co. #1 and a member of "Senesga" Golf Association.

Larry is survived by his children: Laura Casadonte and husband Alfred of Norwich, Jean Jones and husband Robert of Accokeek, Md., Mary Anderson and husband Gerald of Newmarket, N.H., Michael Richard of Hampton and Robert Richard of Panama City Beach, Fla.; and by 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Rita Appell.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at St. Johns Church, 22 Maple Ave. Montville, meeting directly at the church. There are no calling hours. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in Montville. Please visit www.montvillefuneralhome.com to leave a message of condolence for Larry's family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Larry's memory may be made to the Montville Fire Company #1, 77 Route 163, Uncasville CT 06382. The Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, is assisting with arrangements.
