Richard T. Connell

1951 - 2021

Uncasville - Richard T. "Rick" Connell, loving son, brother and uncle passed away Jan. 3, 2021, due to complications of COVID-19.

He was born April 11, 1951, in Derby, the son of the late Thomas and Helen Connell of Uncasville. Richard resided in Uncasville most of his life and was a resident of Orchard Grove Rehabilitation Center for the past 2 years. He was a graduate of Montville High School and held various odd jobs throughout his early years. Rick was a kind, caring and gentle soul who loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with the family dog, fishing, and going out to eat. He was very friendly and loved to talk with everyone. Rick could often be seen taking walks through the neighborhood he grew up in.

He is survived by his sister Suzanne DiCioccio of Uncasville and her husband Anthony. He also is survived by his niece Tonianne Henry and her husband Jon; as well as cousins, a great-niece and two great-nephews.

Richard was loved and so well cared for by the staff of Orchard Grove. Our family would like to thank and recognize their heroic dedication to him and all of the residents they care for during this very difficult time.

There will be a private Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at St. John's Church located on Maple Avenue, Uncasville. Private burial will follow.

The Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, is assisting with arrangements.
