Ralph Tashea Obituary
Ralph was born Dec. 29, 1935, in New London, son of the late Ralph E. and Hazel Tashea. He grew up in Groton and graduated from Fitch High School and was an outstanding athlete and captain of the football team. After serving in the Korean War, Ralph worked at Electric Boat and retired from CSC Data Center.
Ralph completed many marathons including the Boston, Philadelphia and Long Beach marathons. He had a passion for photography, following local schools taking pictures at athletic events. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and the University of Maryland football and lacrosse.
Ralph is survived by his son Michael of Houston, Texas; sister Joy (Van) Williamson of Pell City, Ala., brothers, Richard (Becky) of Ledyard, Peter (Pam) of Groton and Port Charlotte, Fla., Thomas (Pam) of Griswold, his former wife Patricia and husband Frank Chalk of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Frances.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic with military honors. Mask and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Christopher Potvin Scholar-Athlete Fund, 94 Driscoll Drive, Uncasville, CT 06382.
Guillot Funeral Home of Taftville is in charge of arrangements.
