Lucille Evans

Old Lyme - Lucille Lucia Grazia Aurora (Ruggieri) Evans, 87, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Chestelm Health and Rehab in Moodus.

The daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine (Sireci) Ruggieri, Lucille was born on Sept. 16, 1926, in New London. She was the beloved wife of the late Myron Evans to whom she was married for 41 years. Together, they owned and operated The House of Cards and Gifts in Old Saybrook until their retirement. Lucille and her husband enjoyed musical theater and travel, especially trips to Mexico where they made many long lasting friends.

Lucille was a proud alumnus of the Williams Memorial Institute and graduated with the Class of 1945.

Lucille is survived by her three daughters, Lucille Fatone Mulla and her husband, James, of Manchester, N.H., Rosanne Fatone Pipoli and her husband, Thomas of Chester, and Kathryn Fatone Gionet and her husband, Raymond, of Salem. Lucille is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Gionet of Ledyard, Kara Pipoli of Washington, D.C., Brittany Mulla of New Orleans, La., and Thomas Pipoli of Chester; her sister, Marie Sireci of Manchester; and her brother, Joseph Ruggieri and his wife, Angie, of Waterford.

She was predeceased by her sister, Claire Mills.

Lucille's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to VITAS Hospice Services and the staff at Chestelm Health and Rehab for the compassion and care their mother received, especially the nurses and aides.

Burial is private. Memorial contributions may be made in Lucille's memory to the Connecticut Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 659 Tower Avenue - First Floor, Hartford, CT 06112.
