Carol Robitaille Obituary

Groton - Carol A. (Molloy) Robitaille, 81, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and "Auntie" to many, departed this world Dec. 30, 2020. She was born April 12, 1939, to parents, Arnold and Genevieve Fay Molloy of Fall River, Mass. She lived a life of love and meaning that will be missed and warmly remembered by countless friends and family members.

A graduate of Dominican Academy and the Campbell School of Executive Secretarial Course Studies, she married her husband Roland J. Robitaille Jr. Oct. 12, 1959, and relocated to Groton, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She spent a fulfilling career of more than 30 years as General Manager of Manitock Spring Water in Waterford and was a member with her husband at Sacred Heart Church in Groton.

A few years into her marriage, she and Roland adopted three beautiful young girls (all sisters) and a family was born. Her eldest daughter, Barbara, will always remember the look on her face the first time she called her "mom." Her daughter Sharon will never forget swimming in their pool on hot summer days and having to constantly ask her new mother how to spell their new last name. Her daughter Karen remembers that even though money was tight, they provided a lifetime of unforgettable experiences to their family with trips to New Hampshire, Red Sox games at Fenway Park, and many visits to Fall River, Mass. Their grandchildren also fondly remember those special trips to Fall River and coming home with the best Portuguese sweet bread you could find.

Her legacy of love and warmth is carried on by her daughter Barbara Hammond and husband Charles "Chip" Hammond; their daughter Jennifer Pounch and husband Steven Pounch and their children Travis and Colin Pounch, all of Plainfield; her daughter Karen Rugh and husband Dwaine Rugh of Stonington, and their children Dayne Rugh, his wife Regan Miner of Norwich and Lauren Rugh and her significant other Alex Duczynski of Ledyard; her daughter Sharon DiMarco and husband Russ DiMarco of Oakdale, and step-grandson Matt DiMarco and his wife Nicole of Oakdale; as well as many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones everywhere.

The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to Dr. William Kober and the staff at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for their care of her in her final moments.

A graveside memorial will be held in her hometown of Fall River, MA in April of 2021.
