Frank Adamski Obituary

Plainfield - SSG Frank E. Adamski III, stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., formerly of Plainfield, was killed in action in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, on Tuesday, March 29, 2011.

He was born in Port Jefferson, N.Y., on March 30, 1984, to Frank E. Adamski Jr. of Voluntown and Susan (Poppiti) Adamski of Port Jefferson, N.Y. After moving to Connecticut from Long Island at age nine, he attended elementary school in Voluntown. He grew up in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School in 2002 where he participated in football and track. He joined the Army in March 2005, where he completed basic training in Ft. Benning, Ga. Following basic training, he was stationed in Friedberg, Germany, where he was attached to the 1/36th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division. He deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He married the love of his life, Danielle (Bimler) Adamski on March 31, 2007.

After returning home, he was stationed in Fort Benning, Ga., where he was a Javelin Anti-Armor Missile instructor. In early 2009, he re-enlisted and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., where he was attached to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 2/327 1st Brigade Combat Team.

In February of 2010, he became a proud father of Victoria Grace Adamski. Shortly after Victoria's birth, he was deployed to Kunar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by his parents; his sister, Veronica Adamski; his great-grandmother, Emma Marie Adamski; and numerous family members.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at St. John the Apostle Church in Plainfield. A gathering will be held at the Plainfield VFW following the service, and all are welcome. Burial will be private at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

By request of the family, we ask that you bring a dish and your many fond memories of Frank. We want his infectious smile and sense of humor to live on forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SSG Frank E. Adamski III Scholarship, c/o Plainfield High School, PO Box 218. Central Village CT 06332.

I had just watched you on 'Hornets Nest' on Amazon. I just want to say Thank You for your service & sacrifice! In that short hour & a half, I felt as though I was beside you on the battlefield. As if you were a brother & a friend. I felt the helplessness thereafter along with tremendous sadness that still follows me. That was two days ago I watched it. Again, thank you for your courage, bravery, service & ultimate sacrifice so that we ALL can enjoy our freedom. Thanks also to that documentary for introducing you to me. You will forever be in my prayers, never forgotten. My prayers to your wife and daughter as well.

To my brother and friend Frank, I still drink a Heineken first in remembrance of how he loved Heineken beer, then I drink my Corona. Frank and I went on leave after we got back from Iraq. I spent the whole night with him drinking Heineken's all on me as my gift to him since I could not attend his wedding. We had a blast! From 1201 am to 0600 am before he and I caught our planes to the states from Frankfurt,Germany. I still remember his laugh and cool smile. Peace my brother and God's Blessing to his lovely wife Danielle and beautiful daughter. Old Man ... Rangel

Yesterday was a joyous day. Not only did I attend the No Slack reunion I also recalled the fond memories of meeting you. I can still hear your laughter as if it was yesterday I also remembered your very infectious smile. I was quiet upon meeting alot of your friends but I remembered your hospitality of wanting to make me feel wanted and appreciated for being a guest at the pre-deployment barbecue. All of you boys of No Slack have me the sense of feeling young again. Although the there was a quiet somber calm of knowing all of you would be deploying soon you made sure everyone heard and felt the celebration of life. You all gave me the sense of being part of a family much larger than I could ever imagine. I met your dad today and I could immediately see and feel where you had inherited the love and passion for life. May you rest in peace son and continue to watch over your family, your friends and your beloved extended family otherwise known as No Slack. You paid the ultimate price of war for the love of your Country and for this I thank you. You set the bar high for the future No Slack soldiers. Job well done!

To Frank and his family, I send you my thoughts, respect and admiration for your strength of spirit. As the granddaughter of a WWI Vet, the daughter of an Army/National Guard Korean War Vet (whose name was Francis and called by his military buddies, Frank), and the sister of (3 brothers) a Marine Vet, an Army/National Guard Vet of both 1991 and 2003 Gulf wars and a veteran local Volunteer Firefighter-I was raised to appreciate those who sacrifice their time with their families, and sometimes their lives, for our freedoms in this country. Luckily, I did not have to experience a loved one making the ultimate sacrifice. But, I can only imagine that you (as would I) would wish more time with him, than have the comfort of the word "Hero". Anyone who puts themselves in harm's way, for the good of another/others, is already a Hero-so Frank deserves double the remembrance. I did not know him, or any of his loved ones, but I am honored to put down in writing what he (so young!) and all his family mean to me and our country. Occasionally, I have the good fortune to sing our National Anthem at a public event (possibly the Ledyard Memorial Day Parade this year) and the next time I sing it-I would like to dedicate it to Frank. May peace find it's way to your hearts, in it's own time.

Our deepest condolences to the family of SSG Frank Adamski. As military parents we know that the pride you feel when your son joined the military was tempered by the worries his choice brought to you. May you be consoled in the fact that you were lucky to have a HERO in your midst. May the peace of the Lord be with you always.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that losing a loved one is hard to go through. God tells us that he will soon wipe out every tear from our eyes, death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." I hope that this brings you some comfort.

Frank, I know I already told you this but I will say it again. I have more respect for you than you will ever know. I am honored to have known you and been a part of your life. My son tells me everyday that his uncle Frankie is his hero and he misses you. Your sacrifice for your family and this country can never be repaid and will never be forgotten. I just wish there was more time for us to watch our kids grow up together, but I promise you that I will make sure that Victoria knows who her dad was and I will do everything in my power to look after her the best I can. Until we meet again.......

This was a poem I found online and thought it fit well. If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane, we would walk all the way to haven to bring you home again. No fairwell words were spoken, no time to say good bye, you were gone before we knew it, and only god knows why, our hearts ach in sadness, and secret tears will flow, what is ment to lose you , no one will ever know. The writer is anonymous. I think this says it all.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to S/Sgt. Frank E. Adamski our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Frank. And to Frank it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Frank, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,307 military Legionnaire Veterans of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Frank’s family and loved ones.

(I wrote this because I was inspired by who Frank was as person, and what he did for all of us)
An American soldier is sadly taken from his passage on Earth, while fighting for our great country. After a short journey through the dark tunnel with a bright light at the end, he finds himself at the gates of heaven. St. Peter is awaiting his arrival at the gates, and hails him towards the entrance to heaven.

St. Peter-"Soldier, why do you think I should allow you into Heaven? What makes you worthy?
Soldier,- “I have been a kind and generous soul and I protected my family and my country.
St. Peter- So, that makes you worthy to pass through these gates?
Soldier- I believe so I left my family, friends, and traveled half way around the globe leaving all that I know and love as well as my Freedom behind to protect them.
St. Peter- But what makes you worthy of entering the Kingdom of Heaven?
Soldier- I am unsure now is that not what the bible teaches, to live a self-sacrificing life?
St. Peter- The bible is a guide and tells a great deal of teachings and lessons. What, I would like to know is what makes you worthy enough to enter?
Soldier- I am unsure then.
St. Peter- Soldier, I will tell you why. You, did not have to guard all that you hold dear, you did not have to leave behind your family, friends and loved ones, like so many of your fellow Americans choose to do. You, did not have to risk your life for people who protest at your funerals, and treat you poorly when you return. You did not have to fight for freedom, or even freedom of religion. You did not have to fight for those who have no clue what it is like to be in harm’s way, but feel the need to take the rights that you just died for in the name of beginning fair. No, Soldier, you are a “selfless” soul who had the courage and bravery to fight for something that many abuse and take for granted. Freedom does not come without sacrifice. You, Soldier have given yourself up for nothing more than a belief a thought, if you will. You, Soldier, are why God created man in the first place and why God continues to protect man from himself. It is not always about killing others, it is about taking a stand for those who do not stand for themselves. In essence you have given yourself up for the “Hope” that Mankind can find Peace and Harmony within himself. Fighting may not always lead to Peace and Harmony, but not fighting for the “Hope” of someday having Peace and Harmony is far worse. Soldier, that is why you are worthy of entering.
Frank, you are why our Colors of our Flag do not run. You are why our Freedom will not come undone. Frank, you are why I have never felt so grateful to live in this country. I wish I could return the favor somehow. Your sacrifice will never ever be forgotten.

Dear Frank, Carol Anne, Danielle, Victoria, Cynthia, and the entire Adamski Family,

I’ve never met SSgt Adamski...Frankie...but I’ve known and served with men like him! I am a Submarine Vet and currently an active member of the Friends at EB Troop Support Group, so our involvement keeps us current. We try to honor any troop we’re made aware of in whatever way we can to continually remind them...and their families...that we, too, know that Freedom Isn’t Free!!! Generally, that’s through care packages, but I also have, personally, a ministry of remembrance...for friends and family...and would like to consider y’all as such, as I would any fellow warrior, so PLEASE CONTACT ME for formatted versions of the obituary and this Guest book entry!

Our country has lost a brave soldier...a family has lost a brave son, husband, father, friend...HERO...who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom! John 13:35, the Warrior’s Verse, was well met in Frankie!!! A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States' for an amount "up to and including his life." We do our best to honor that here!

And...I believe I understand, to some degree, the hole left behind... regardless forewarning...by anyone so loved...or held in such high personal esteem; and so I pray this helps some wee bit...to allow...enable…the grief! Definitely keepin’ y’all in fond prayers that Christ hold you close in this trying time!

When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss…inconsolable…she was my mentor! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?!?" I hold eternity with God a precious, hard-won, and cherished prize...but... in the interim, the answer lies below...and believe me...I understand the tears often are not nearly as casual as this implies!

SELFISH TEARS
(I eulogize my beloved mother - March, 1989)

Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!

We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,
Your painful fears now for forever stilled.
You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!

So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,
We'll miss you...but continue on our way,
And, from time to time, we'll cry our selfish tears!!!

and freedom has a taste and price, the protected never know."

Say it isn't so?? Another American hero taken from us way too soon! We have a daughter and son-in-law, both serving and, we can not describe the pain we feel for you. May your memories sustain you. Don't ask why, we know why. Heaven needed another shinning star and tonight, the sky will be that much brighter!! May Frank rest in peace!!!

May you find peace on this difficult journey.LIFE'S WEAVING

My life is but a weaving
between my God and me;
I may not choose the colors,
He knows what they should be;
For He can view the pattern
Upon the upper side,
While I can see it only
On this, the under side.
Sometimes He weaveth sorrow,
Which seemeth strange to me;
But I will trust His judgment;
And work on faithfully;
'Tis he who fills the shuttle,
He knows just what is best;
So I shall weave in earnest
And leave with Him the rest.
At last, when life is ended,
With Him I shall abide,
Then I may view the pattern
Upon the upper side;
Then I shall know the reason
Why pain with joy entwined,
Was woven in the fabric
Of life that God designed.

God bless each of you.

For all we are as Americans we owe to our heros in uniform. Frankie was one of our heros who gave his life to protect us all. He was a kind, gentle, and loving friend who will deeply be missed. I will always remember seeing the smile on his face while holding his daughter in his arms with love and pride. To his family from mine I like to give my deepest graditude and condolences to a true American HERO. God bless

God Bless this man for his service. I don't pretend to understand what sacrifice he made for all of us, and I did not know him, but he is a hero in my eyes. May his family find the grace and love, and especially peace in their hearts that he surely wanted for them.

IN MEMORIUM

In countless gentle, kindly ways he lived a sermon all his days. Believing in the folk he knew and making friends his lifetime through
Enjoying life, its works and fun, he sought the best in everyone. Living his faith from day to day, he sowed good seed along the way.
Now death has set his spirit free in fields of immortality, to claim a task of greater worth than any he had known on earth.

MISS ME BUT LET ME GO

When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take. And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go.
