Old Lyme - Roger Mark Kinderman, 61, of Old Lyme, Park Supervisor of Hammonasset Beach State Park, passed away on April 13, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Kingston, N.Y. on Oct. 15, 1948, Roger also lived in Scranton, Pa., before moving to Connecticut. After graduation from Old Saybrook High School in 1966, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served honorably for four years. Upon his return to Connecticut, he began working for the CT Department of environmental Protection.

Roger's wit and humor, his candor and outspokenness for doing the right thing, and his genuine, positive attitude day-in and day-out, have made him unforgettable. He earned the respect and admiration of so many, largely because of his kindness and natural way of mentoring and helping people. He will be deeply missed and commemorative trees will be planted at Hammonasset Beach State Park.

Roger is survived by his two sons, Seth Kinderman of Boston, Mass. and Kevin Kinderman of Old Lyme; as well as his brother, Brian Kinderman of Panama City, Fla.; his sister, Joan (Kinderman) Haman of Southbury, Conn.; and many true friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward G. and Amelia (Rindteisch) Kinderman of Old Saybrook; his brother, Edward G. Kinderman; his sister, Marianne (Kinderman) Davis both of Scranton, Pa.; and his brother, Robert L. Kinderman of Old Saybrook.

There will be a graveside service with full military honors at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 16, at Riverside Cemetery, Old Saybrook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Hammonasset, P.O. Box 271, Madison, CT 06443, for the benefit of Meigs Point Nature Center expansion project.

Arrangements by Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook.
