Ross Livingston Miller Jr.

New London - Ross Livingston Miller Jr. of 97 Riverview Ave., died on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, in New London.

He was born on March 7, 1954 in Greenfield, Mass. Ross "Chip" was raised in Madison, where he graduated from Daniel Hand High School. He spent his adult life in southeastern Conn., primarily New London, where he attended Connecticut College, Class of 1976. He was well known in New London as a bartender at the Dutch Tavern.

Ross was a lifelong folk musician, a member of several bands where his talents as a rock and jazz guitarist were also appreciated, a singer and songwriter. He was host of "Jazz & Cocktails" on WCNI. Ross found his calling as a tutor at Mitchell College, where he spent 20 years working with students for whom he knew he made a difference. Ross had a passion for water, sailing and design. His exquisite skin on frame kayak designs were featured in Duckworks magazine and sold commercially for those who wished to experience the satisfaction of building a boat.

Ross was predeceased by both his parents, Ross Livingston and Maurine (Torell) Miller; as well as his brother, Craig Torell Miller

He is survived by his sister, Lucia Nall Miller and her daughter, Maurine Miller.
