Herbert Henry Krause
- - Herbert Henry Krause made his journey into heaven on March 13th surrounded by his family. He was born in Owatonna MN. to Dora Abbe and Herbert Rudolph Krause on May 23rd 1929. He married Patricia Maile on June 17th, 1951 and they enjoyed 67 years together. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. He was a constant supporter for his family and his wife, Pat in all she did. .
Herbert started working at age 13 on the railroads summers and joined the Army Air Corps at 17. He spent 3 years in the service and was on Okinawa for 2 years. He was proud of his service to his country. He started at the Owatonna Peoples Press newspaper under the GI bill as a linotype operator. He worked at the Austin Daily Herald in MN as a computer adman creator for 31 years before retiring to spend time traveling and playing Golf. He and his wife Pat loved to play golf, fish and seeing family in MN summers. They had a trailer in MN on a lake for many years. They traveled a lot and settled near Palm Springs, CA and spent summers in MN.
He helped start an Archery Club in Owatonna and Austin MN. He loved camping with the family playing the guitar, Harmonica and singing. He was an avid sportsman. He mentored is children and family teaching them in all sports. He played golf in CA daily until his health declined and still was on the course daily putting and chipping. He was a marshall and starter at many local golf courses. He survived a serious illness last summer. The Mayo Clinic surgeons in Rochester MN saved his life. He was recovering nicely when cancer hit and took his life.
He is survived by his wife Pat, three children, son Michael Krause, (Sherry), Daughters Laurie Hirth and Jill Brua,(Rick). He has 7 grandchildren, Amy Miller, Angie Quasbort, Bridget McCarthy, Ferrin Hoffmann, Taylor Hirth, Andrew Krause and Dillon Hirth and spouses. He has 16 great grandchildren, Many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, His brother Bing, sisters Evelyn, Leona and Delores, Two infant daughters, Penny and Pammy.
