Viola M. Broders, 87, of rural New Bremen, died at noon on Monday, May 10, 2021 at her residence after a period of declining health. She was born on Dec. 4, 1933 in Lima, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Edna (Graham) Fryer.
Survivors include her son, Don Simindinger of New Bremen; her three grandchildren: Chris (Cristy) Simindinger of Sidney, Mollie (Shane) Mounts of Huber Heights and Kenny Simindinger of New Bremen; her great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren: Casey Simindinger, Brennan Schaefer, Caslin Floyd and Malik Moton. Also surviving is a sister, Irene Grear of Spencerville and a brother, Dick Fryer of Delphos.
Along with her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her companion Darrell D. Darnell; a son and daughter-in-law David (Alma) Simindinger, and a daughter in-law Cinda Simindinger.
Viola was a 1951 graduate of Spencerville High School. She had worked at Goodyear in St. Marys for over 30 years. She was a strong-willed woman and a strict disciplinarian, but she also knew how to have fun with her family and friends.
She enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers, taking walks around the pond near her home, and enjoyed taking trips to Frankenmuth, Michigan. She also loved to bake cookies, especially for her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with Rev. Ed Rinehart officiating.
Interment will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery of St. Marys. Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, and again on Thursday, one hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions in memory of Viola be made to the Grand Lake Hospice, 1122 E. Spring Street, St. Marys, OH 45885.
