Kay Brenton Book, 76, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Merwyn and Dorothy Deke Brenton. Kay retired from the Daviess County Public School System. She was a long-time member of Owensboro Christian Church, where she was very active and served in many ministries. Kay spent many countless hours giving of her time to care for others by volunteering at Hospice and the Heartford House, Riverpark Center, Food Bank, and several others. She truly loved to care for others, and anyone who knew her felt how true her heart was.

Kay was always a loving and caring wife to Charlie, to her five children, and her 16 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No matter what else was going on in her life she always made sure she could attend all the family events, and to spend time with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Charlie Book; and a sister-in-law, Diane Brenton.

Kay is survived by two daughters, Misty Edge and her husband, Jeff, of Georgetown, KY and Heather Hamilton and her husband, Phillip, of Philpot; three sons, Brent Book and his wife, Claudia, of Duluth, GA, Chuck Book and his wife, Angie, and Deke Book and Joyce Quiggins, all of Owensboro; seven grandchildren, Ross Book, Dustin and Chris Hamilton, Luke and Jonathan Book, Caitlin Vest and Scotty Edge; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon Stuart (Bob); and a brother, Robert "Bob" Brenton.

The funeral service for Kay Book will be at 12:00 PM Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Scott Kenworthy officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 8:00 PM Friday and after 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
