Shirley LORIMER Obituary

SHIRLEY LORIMER (JOHNSTON) Peacefully at Extendicare London on Friday, January 22, 2021, Shirley Ellen (Johnston) Lorimer of London in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Lorimer. Beloved mother to Ian and Nancy and the late Charles Lorimer. Beloved mother-in-law to Joanne Harbluk and Scott Lanterman. Beloved Grandma to Anna Lorimer. Born in Peterborough, Ontario, Shirley attended Victoria College, University of Toronto, where she obtained her MA in English, and the University of Western Ontario where she obtained her Master of Library Science (MLS). Shirley spent many years as an English as a second language (ESL) and citizenship teacher and in various volunteer projects. She found her passion, however, with the McIlwraith Field Naturalists (now Nature London), where she compiled and edited 4 editions of A Guide to Natural Areas of London and Vicinity on behalf of the club, as well as various other writing (often under the persona of 'The Observant Nuthatch') for the newsletter. Shirley was also a warm and caring mother and loved the summers spent with family at the cottage. Her kindness and zest for life will be greatly missed by friends and family. A memorial service will be held in later summer or early autumn when it will (we hope) be possible to gather again. Memorial contributions to Nature London would be gratefully acknowledged. www.HarrisFuneralHome.ca
