Thomas RYLEY Obituary

Passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto. He was born in Windsor, Ontario on April 10, 1926, the son of Edmund Fitzgerald Ryley and Bertha Beatrice Hockin. Brother of Alan (Pat) and the late Gerry. Loving father to Tom, Jane, Gerald, Annabel and David, and his eleven grandchildren. He graduated from medicine at the University of Toronto in 1951, and enjoyed a long and fruitful career as an obstetrician and gynecologist at the Wellesley Hospital, and on the teaching staff of U of T. Though he lost count, he delivered well over 5000 children into the world. He spent his summers and many weekends at his beloved cottage on Lake Joseph, where he enjoyed his happiest times among his family and friends. A longtime member of the Badminton and Racquet Club, where he liked to joke that he 'got his annual dues worth in hot water alone.' In the Ryley family tradition, a consummate story teller, a quality he passed on to his children as well.
