ANNA MARION SHEPLEY MATTHIAS October 31, 1941 - July 2, 2021 Marion died peacefully at her son's home in Newmarket (on July 2, 2021). She will be greatly missed by her husband, Chuck; sons, Brendan (Heidi) and Michael; grandchildren, Emma (Jonathan), Thomas, Peter, Nicholas, and Noah; sister, Joan (Bill); brother, Bob; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother, Don and his wife, Elizabeth. Marion grew up in Chatham, ON, with strong admiration for her parents, Drs. Ledson and Jean Shepley, her siblings, and her aunt Mary (librarian). Marion graduated from University of Toronto with a B.A., followed by a Library Science degree. She and Chuck made their home in Thornhill, ON, with Marion enjoying many years as a librarian within the Town of Markham library system. Marion was a dedicated and engaged citizen of her beloved community of Thornhill (Town of Markham). She was passionately involved in municipal government, and was a tireless advocate of historical preservation. Marion nurtured plants and trees wherever she went. She loved visits with her many friends, family, and grandchildren. We thank you, Marion/Mom/Gran, for your life, love, vitality, and friendship. We will miss you.
