HAINES, Claudia Persi
Died peacefully in Milan, Italy on Wednesday July 21, 2010 after a long battle with leukemia. She was with her son Charles, her sister Maura, her nephew Maurizio, as well as friends when she died at the Istituto Europeo di Oncologia, the hospital where she had been cared for over the past year by an excellent team of doctors and nurses.
Claudia, or Nonna, will live on in the hearts of Ameena, Luca, and Safia, her grandchildren with whom she had just spent two wonderful weeks in Como. She has given them a love of art that will exhibit itself in every painting or drawing they create. She will also be missed by her daughter- in-law Seema, her nephews Maurizio and Stefano, their wives Oriana and Marta, and Alice and Chiara, her grandnieces, as well as her many good friends all around the world. A funeral service was held in Milan, Italy on July 23rd and a celebration of Claudia's life will be held later in Ottawa, Canada.
