Constance TAYLOR Obituary
CONSTANCE ADRIENNE TAYLOR Constance 'Adrienne' Taylor (nee Sandford) born in Lindsay, Ontario September 26, 1927 and passed away July 18, 2021 at Michael Garron Hospital surrounded by family. Predeceased by husband Earle, and four siblings, Adrienne is survived by her sister Diana Watson, Sandford cousins and her brother-in-law Robert Taylor. She leaves behind her children; Suzanne, Dana, Timothy and Trevor, and four grandchildren Dorian, Brendan, Victoria and James and many nieces and nephews. Having returned to university at age 40 to complete her BA, she continued her studies and proudly earned both her Master of Arts (English) and a Master of Library Sciences, all from the University of Toronto. Working a number of years in the public library system until her appointment as librarian at Wycliffe College (U of T) where she enjoyed many happy and challenging years until retirement. Adrienne had a lifelong interest in books and was a Friend of the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library and a founder and member of a local book club. Adrienne was an advocate in civic affairs, a feminist and decades-long member of the Association of Women Electors, and member/supporter of the Older Women's Network. A proud Torontonian, she enjoyed much of what the city offered through the arts. She was a supporter of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Opera company, ROM, and additionally enjoyed the seasonal offerings of the Shaw and Stratford Festivals. Through retirement Adrienne and Earle enjoyed many adventures in Europe and the Mediterranean as well as years of relaxing vacations with long-time friends Jim and Liz MacDonald on Prince Edward Island. Memorial donations would be welcome at either the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library or the Older Women's Network. The family wishes to thank the kind doctors and staff at the University Health Network and Michael Garron Hospital. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Christ Church, Deer Park, Toronto. (Covid protocols observed) She will be greatly missed.
