David LOCHHEAD Obituary



LOCHHEAD, Rev. Dr. David Morgan, B.Sc., S.T.M., Ph.D.
Passed away peacefully, at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, on Tuesday, June 15th, 1999. Born in Montreal, Quebec on June 18th, 1936, he studied math, theology and philosophy of religion at McGill University; Oxford, England; Union College, Vancouver and Chicago. He served church as Dean of Studies at St. Paul's College, Waterloo, Ontario; as Principal of Coughlin College, St. John's Newfoundland; as Minister of Thornbury Pastoral Charge, Ontario; and as Professor of Systematic Theology, Vancouver School of Theology. Author of several books, his passion in recent years has been the impact of technology on church and society. He was a founding member of Ecunet, and I.R.T.C., and a pioneer of computer communications particularly within the ecumenical community. He was active in interfaith and interdenominational dialogue through the United Church of Canada and the Canadian Council of Churches. He is remembered by his wife Rev. Dr. Marta Frascati-Lochhead; his children Jim (Penny), Melanie, Jennifer (Ellery), Andrew, Gweynneth, Rhonda; his grandchildren Morgan, Bevan and Aidan; his sister Meryl (Robin); and Francesca. He is also remembered by his many friends and colleagues around the world. Memorial Service will be held on June 22nd at 11 a.m. at South Burnaby United Church, 7591 Gray Avenue, Burnaby, B.C. Burial will be at Boundary Bay Cemetery, Tsawwassen, B.C. at 1:30 p.m. of the same day.
