Denis BURTON Obituary
BURTON, Denis Norman Eugene.
79 years old, born December 6 1933 in Lethbridge Alberta, Canada. Dennis passed away July 8th 2013, Vancouver B. C.He is survived by his spouse of 24 years Susan Connor and her children Sasha and Vincent. Also by his children and grandchildren Varyn Burton (Victor Carvalho) Cole & Quinn and Maihyet Burton (Simon Craig) Lylah and Timar of Toronto. And his beloved cats Lele and Tota. Dennis is predeceased by his parents Clarence Edward & Bertha (Tiller) Burton, Lethbridge Alberta. Dennis retired from Emily Carr University Art and Design in 1999 after 20 years of teaching. Dennis Burton will be remembered as a avant-garde Canadian Artist know for his Abstract Expressionism and Garter belt mania (1962-65) .
His work is in many public and private collections including National Gallery of Canada, Art Gallery of Ontario, Vancouver Art gallery, Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge , the Glenbow in Calgary , The Robert Mclaughlin in Oshawa and many others all over Canada and United States.
Dennis was also shared this passion with large body of students throughout his 40 year teaching career.
A celebration of life will held on Saturday July 13th 2013, 6:30 -9:30 p.m. at the Sunset Community Centre 6810 Main Street Vancouver B. C.
There will be a Toronto tribute for Dennis at a later date.
