Janet Melville Wardlaw
Janet Wardlaw passed away peacefully January 17 2014 at Guelph General Hospital in her 90th year. Daughter of James Wardlaw and Molly Law late of Toronto. Beloved sister and sister-in-law of Tom and the late Grace Wardlaw of Waterford, Ontario and Bob and Jane Wardlaw of Ottawa, Ontario. Dear Aunt to David Wardlaw (Margaret), Robin Wardlaw (Rita More), Craig Wardlaw (Flora Simpson), Stephen Wardlaw (Margaret Wallace), Jonathan Wardlaw, Anne Teutsch (Eric), Michael Wardlaw (Jill Jensen), Patricia Laurich (Peter) and Laura Wardlaw (Greg Osborne), her great-nieces and nephews, and to everyone who knew her. BA, University of Toronto, Nutrition. MS, University of Tennessee, Nutrition. PhD, Pennsylvania State University, Nutrition. Dietician, Canadian Red Cross School. Nutritionist, Michigan Department of Health. Nutritionist, Toronto Department of Health. Associate Professor, University of Toronto Faculty of Household Science. Professor, University of Guelph Department of Foods and Nutrition. Dean, University of Guelph College of Family and Consumer Studies. Associate Vice-President Academic, University of Guelph. Chairperson, Board of Governors, International Development Research Centre (Canada). Member and Elder, Knox Presbyterian Church, Guelph. Janet was a leader, an outstanding academic and administrator, a role model, a voice of reason, a caring sister and aunt, a steadfast friend, a caregiver to anyone who needed help, and a world traveller. She will be sorely missed. Visitation at the Wall Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Thursday Jan 23, 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral at Knox Presbyterian Church, 20 Quebec St., Guelph, Friday January 24, 11:00 AM. Interment later at Parklawn Cemetery, Toronto.
