KITCHEN, Jean (nee Wells)

Passed away peacefully at Trillium Hospital on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, two months short of her 99th birthday. Jean is survived by three of her 4 children, Michael (Mary Jane), Marbeth (Doug- deceased) McLean and Charlotte Kanavos (Ari) and 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Rev. Sterling Kitchen, her son Harley, granddaughter Kristy Ann and great-granddaughter Tessa. Jean was a graduate of U of T, Victoria College, Class of 1939. The Kitchen family lived in Mindemoya, Cobalt and Woodstock, before settling in Port Credit in 1955. Here Jean, a lifelong learner, became active in the community establishing a chapter of The University Women's Club and founding The Port Credit Art Loan Society. She was head of the Home Economies Department at Bramalea Secondary School and became an enthusiastic environmentalist ahead of her time. She joined the Credit Valley Golf Club in the 1970's and was an avid golfer, and continued to enjoy bridge for most of her life. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter 'Neweduk-Erin Mills' Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga (just east of Erin Mills Pkwy) on Saturday,
February 28, 2015, from 3 p.m. until the time of her Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 4 p.m. The family requests that if you are inclined to make a monetary donation or send flowers that you consider doing something special for yourself or with your family instead and celebrate your relationship with Jean.
