McKEY, John E., S.J.
In his 89th year and the 71st year of his religious life, in in the Jesuit Infirmary in Pickering, Ontario, on January 1, 2000. Father McKey spent his entire life as a Jesuit priest in the pastoral service of the native peoples of Northern Ontario as a traveling missionary, church builder, pastor and mission superior. He received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal in 1981. He will be missed by his friends., Jesuit colleagues, sister-in-law Pauline McKey, and nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home, 467 Sherbourne Street (near Wellesley), Toronto on Tuesday January 4 from 2-4 p.m., and at the St. Ignatius Chapel of Manresa Retreat House, 2325 Liverpool Road, Pickering, Ontario from 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Ignatius Chapel on Wednesday, January 5 at 11 a.m. Burial at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Jesuit Cemetery, Ignatius College, Geulph, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jesuit Development Office, 47 Ranleigh Avenue, Suite 22, Toronto, Ontario M4N 1X2.
