HOBDAY, Kathleen Maude
Peacefully in her sleep, in her 100th year, on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Belmont House. Daughter of the late John and Rose Hobday and loving sister of the late Marion Allen and the late Gifford Hobday. Loving aunt to Jennifer Fowell of Ottawa; proud Great-aunt to Stephanie Carcano (Larchmont, NY); Donald Fowell (Toronto); and Cameron Fowell (Ottawa), and Great-great-aunt to Gabriella and James Carcano; John and Julia Fowell; and Carter Fowell. Havergal College Head Girl and more recently a member of the Havergal 'Stoneagers Club.' Member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity, the Soroptomist Club, the U of T Faculty Club and the University Women's Club. Modern Languages Gold Medalist at U of T (UC '28). Joined Ontario College of Education, and then OISE (Ontario Institute For Studies In Education), where she became Editor of that organization's publications. Well-liked and respected by all who knew her for her politeness and grace, keen intellect and knowledge of public affairs. Cremation has taken place, and will be followed by a family graveside service at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Belmont House, especially the staff of 4 West, for its kindnesses and attention. Donations to the Belmont House Foundation, 55 Belmont St., Toronto, ON, M5R 1R1, or to the charity of your choice.
