Marjorie 'Jerrie' Dawson (nee Burton) Mom passed away quickly and peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Georgetown Hospital after a short, but valiant battle with cancer. She will now join Dad, in a happier and more peaceful place of heaven. Born in Leeds, England on January 13, 1934, Mom came to Canada in her late teens to find adventure and found her future loving husband, John Dawson. They married and Marjorie returned to England to explain herself to her parents, who eventually met my father and treated him as one of their own. Mom returned to Canada and worked throughout her life as an accountant with new car dealerships. Her vibrant red hair, excellent sense of humor and sense of style were as appreciated as the new car models every year. A strong-willed woman with defined value sets of honesty, integrity and transparency; everyone always knew where they stood with Jerrie. Beloved sister of John and Joan Burton, loving Mother of Chris and his wife Betty Ann and Nana of Michael. Supported by close friends of Joan, Carol, Judy and Mima. We will all miss her dearly! Service and interment was on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, Georgetown. In her memory, contributions to Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills would be appreciated. To send expressions of sympathy, please visit
