LAWSON, Mary Elisabeth (Fisher) 1910-2004
Elisabeth passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28th at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Her life included a career as a figure skater; participating in the 1932 Olympic games at Lake Placid, N.Y. as a member of the Canadian team. She served with the Wrens during WWII. Her later life was very active with family and friends. She was a long serving volunteer at the Royal Ontario Museum. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter Luke Lawson, in 1966. She is survived by her son, Robert Luke Lawson and daughter-in-law Margaret Louise Lawson of Ladysmith, B.C.; by her brother Robert Alan Fisher and sister-in- law Helene Fisher of Port Hope, Ontario and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will miss the fun, humour and lively interest that she brought into our lives. Her ashes will be interred at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at a private service. Heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Christie Gardens for the attentive care, compassion and kindness afforded Elisabeth during her final years.
