Reginald LANG Obituary
LANG, Reginald Stephen
Born December 17, 1936 in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. Died peacefully, September 20, 2007 at Princess Margaret Hospital.
B.E. (Civil Engineering, M.Sc. (Community Planning), Ed.D., FCIP, RPP (Retired), Professor Emeritus, Faculty of Environmental Studies, York University.
Survived by his wife Donna Caravaggie, his two daughters Michelle Lang, Kearney, Nebraska; and Mary-Ellen Dean Lang (Alan Dean), Edinburgh, Scotland. Loving brother to Marlene Hagen (Pat), White Rock, British Columbia; Dennis Lang (Joan), Burlington, Ontario; and Pat Lang (Debbie), Edmonton, Alberta.
Reg was a passionate, life-long learner, whose career included community planning, environment impact assessment, the study of strategic development and the management of organizational change, but this was only part of his intellectual pursuits. He had a natural ability to pursue many interests at the same time and he loved to talk about ideas. These conversations would often take place at the dinner table, where Reg greatly enjoyed many years of delicious meals and excellent wine ( and good television afterwards). He loved hiking, both in Canada and Britain, but it was the daily walk in his yard to check the garden and watch the birds visiting the feeder that was his most constant communion with the natural world.
Friends may call at the Thompson Funeral Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South (northeast corner of Yonge and Industrial Parkway, 905-727-5421), Aurora from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Memorial Service in our Chapel at 11 a.m. Inurnment Aurora Cemetery.
In memory of Reg, the family would appreciate donations to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the care that Reg received here, and their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mark Minden, Dr. Andrzej Lutynski, the staff of the Transfusion Unit, Unit 15a where Reg received his initial treatment and Unit 15b where he passed away.
