CLIFFORD, William (Bill) Archibald

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the age of 89. Survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Marguerite (Nimeth); sons, Dan (Heather) and Tim (Kari); and sister, Kay McGowan. 'Gups' will be lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren: Rhiannon (Joe), Sam, Hilary, Benjamin and Connor.
Born in Toronto on November 21, 1927, Bill grew up in the Fort Erie and Welland area before moving to Guelph after he and Marguerite married. Having earned his Masters of History, Bill was a dedicated teacher and librarian, retiring in 1990 after a 40-year career with the Waterloo District School Board. A passionate tennis player, voracious reader, and longtime clarinetist with the Guelph Concert Band, Bill will be best remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the funeral mass at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma Street, Guelph on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or St. Vincent de Paul would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences at www.wallcustance.com
