William S. Pitt, Jr.
Formerly of Westport
William S. Pitt, Jr., of Shelton, CT, husband of the late Ellen Virginia Pitt, passed away Friday evening, September 28th at Cambridge Manor Health Care in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Mr. Pitt was born August 28, 1917 in Bridgeport, son of the late William S. and Agnes (Craw) Pitt and has resided in Shelton, CT for the past fourteen years. Prior to moving to Shelton, Mr. Pitt had resided in Westport for the past fifty years.
Before retiring he was a builder in Westport and owned and operated Saugatuck Builders Inc. He is a former member of the Home Builders Assoc. of Fairfield County, the Y's men of Westport, and the Westport Rotary. He was an avid bird watcher and golfer with one hole in one to his credit. Mr. Pitt loved traveling especially to destinations near or on the water. During World War II Mr. Pitt served as a Second Lieutenant with the 3036th Army Air Corps.
Survivors include one son, William S. Pitt, III and his wife Jayne of Huntington, CT and one grandson, William S. Pitt IV.
At the request of Mr. Pitt, services and interment are private. Friends and family will be invited to a gathering to celebrate Mr. Pitt's life at a time to be announced in the near future.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the of the Northeast, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108. The Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Rd. E., Westport is assisting the family with the arrangements.
