James Steele Hopkins
James Steele Hopkins, age 58, died at Lee Memorial Health System Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida on February 13, 2021. Born on June 27, 1962 in Stamford, CT, he was the son of Richard Appleton and Heather Steele Hopkins.
James grew up in Rowayton; he graduated from the Woodstock School in Woodstock, VT and attended Connecticut College in New London. While growing up in Rowayton, he joined the Sea Scouts and would later spend three years in the Navy, serving in San Diego and on ships in Bahrain and New London. He then lived in Norwalk where he worked for Brandmans Paints and later moved to Florida. Predeceased by his father and his brothers, David and Jeffrey, he is survived by his wife, Brandi Burgess; his mother; his sister and her husband, Deborah and Thomas McNamara; his brother and his wife, Richard, Jr. and Sonja. He is also survived by his nieces Carolyn (Shane) Casady, Lauren (T.J.) Lichaj, Chelsea (Kenneth) Pinkerton, Elshia and Erin Hopkins; as well as nephews, Richard III and Dylan Hopkins.
Internment in the United Church of Rowayton Memorial Garden will be private. Gifts in his memory maybe made to the United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Ave, Rowayton, CT 06853.
