David Doran passed away on Tuesday, 29 January, 2013, at Lisaard House, at the age of 53. David is survived by Patricia, his wife of almost 30 years, and his beloved children, Crawford and Claire and daughter-in-law, Gwen. David was a graduate of UW (EE '84) and RPI (MBA '85). After a successful career in telecommunications and marketing he landed his dream job as a Business Development Manager with the Ontario Centres of Excellence. David was always eager to learn about new technologies and took great satisfaction in helping his clients' projects succeed.
David's children were his own most treasured projects. He was always happy to brag about their many activities and achievements. David was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends, sharing good food and wine, and debating any number of topics. Geography quizzes, …
David was a father, brother and uncle to many, within his family and beyond. He will be missed by all, including his golfing partners, his work colleagues, and his many four-footed friends.
Donations can be made in David's memory to either Lisaard House, the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, or the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, either directly or by contacting Ontario Cremation Services at 519-772-1237. A memorial celebration will be held at the Waterloo Inn Hotel and Conference Centre (475 King Street North, Waterloo, Ontario, N2J 2Z5) between 1:00 and 5:00 on Sunday, February 3rd. There will be food, wine, good company, and great stories: all things that David loved.
