Kim Allen Obituary

Allen, Kim Ogden

Dayton, OH & Ovid: Kim Ogden Allen passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at his home in Kettering, OH. Kim was born to Vivian Norton Allen and Dr. Willis Donald Allen on December 8, 1953 in Geneva, NY. He attended school in Ovid, Manlius, NY and at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, MA, graduating from South Seneca Central School in 1971. After a brief time at SUNY Delhi, Kim entered the US Air Force and was trained in communications. He served with distinction in special forces during the later stages of the Vietnam War. Kim was awarded a Bronze Star for action in Cambodia. He returned to the States with a wife and young son. After 10 years and 6 months of service, Kim left the Air Force and spent some time doing covert work for the government. For the remainder of his life, Kim owned a carpet cleaning business outside of Dayton, OH. Kim's great passion in life was skydiving. He was an instructor, training groups in formation jumping, and traveled the country giving demonstrations and instructions. He also enjoyed discussing politics, playing poker, and tending his gardens. He is survived by his father, Willis Allen (Ithaca); a brother, Peter Allen (Reynoldsville); two sisters, Lisa Allen (Pompano Beach, FL) and Heather Allen Johnson (Salem, OR); his former wife, Lamoun Conley (Georgia); a son, Kerrey Allen (Georgia); along with 5 grandchildren; and a daughter, Molly Allen (Kentucky). Kim was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Ovid Federated Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, followed by a private interment at Glenwood Cemetery in Geneva.

I shared memorable jumps with Kim in the late 90´s and we were on a video together at Richmond Boogie 2000 of which a scene was published in Parachutist´s October 2000 issue Shared many good vibes with Kim and beers and laughs I left the Sport in 2001 at the age of 60 and did not know of his demise until recent My much felt belated sympathies to his family and my memories will forever remain strong

Sorry to hear about Kim's passing. For me he was larger than life. I only knew him for a short time while stationed at Shaw AFB but in that amount of time he was forever etched in my memory. ROMAD.
