This obit tells the story. Such a legacy for his children to remember him by. We always though so highly of Mike and his family. And to Joyce especially we remember when we lost our daughter Carol in 1977 how she came with a dish to the house on Hanshaw Road to console the grieving family. Now it is her turn to be consoled. We hope that by remembering Mike and Joyce in their early days in Ithaca you will all know we love you. Your friends, Betty & Bob

Dear Joyce, Robert and the other members of the family, who I met once at dinner in the boat club.
The news of Mike passing away reaches me today and I feel deeply touched. By expressing my deep appreciation of Mike as scientist and as a friend, I hope I can give you some comfort in the present situation.
Sincerely Hermann

To the family. I send to you my deepest condolences. May you gain comfort in reading the words at 2 Thessalonians 2:16,17. "May God comfort your hearts and make you firm," during this very difficult time.

The music world lost a hero, but I can already hear him with the Angel Chorus and most likely adding his "input". Sing well, my friend!
