Jane Littlejohn Wood Obituary
Jane Littlejohn Wood

- - (Alta) Jane Littlejohn Wood died at her home on 27 June 2018 after a long and painful fight with cancer.

She was born on St. Valentine's Day 1939 to Orville and Julia Littlejohn in the hamlet of McClure (Deposit). She married Gary Wood, in the same place, on 11 July 1959. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their daughter Tamara in Portland. OR, and son Thomas (Sandra) residing in Kaneohe, HI; as well as their grandchildren Rachel and Daniel Hahn, who also live in Oregon. She is also survived by two sisters (Iva and Anne) and four brothers (Nelson, Orville Jr.,David and Neil). She was predeceased by their son-in-law, Scott Hahn, who died on 23 June 2018.

Jane was one of only three women to receive an AAS degree in Mechanical Technology from Broome Community College in 1959. After graduation, she helped her husband complete his education at the University of Illinois, before returning with him to Upstate New York to live and raise their family. Gardening was a passion and she was exceptional at it. For most of her married years she maintained a garden, even early on when living in a mobile home park. Her children recall eating well from the fruits of her labors. She ran the family household and raised their two children, successfully setting them on their different paths in life. As the children left home, she joined her husband's engineering practice as an able partner where they worked together for over 25 years. She performed both computer-aided-drafting and accounting for the firm by teaching herself to use the latest technology. As she transitioned into retirement she also had the opportunity to canoe and camp in Adirondacks with family and friends and travel, both locally and from Nova Scotia to Alaska and Hawaii. Despite the distance, the children were fortunate to be able share holidays for many years with her spending Christmas with the Hahn family in Portland OR and New Year's in Kaneohe HI with Tom and Sandy.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM at the Virgil UM Church on 21 July 2018 and a funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM. A reception dinner will follow the service. Internment will be in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Sampson State Park.

If you wish to support Jane's memory it is suggested that you consider contributions to Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
