Martin , John L. "Skip"

John L. "Skip" Martin, 77, of Brooktondale, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Syracuse V.A. Medical Center following a brief illness. John was born May 8, 1939 to Rod and Irene Martin. He was a legendary fixture at Lincoln Street Diner (Ziffy's) where he worked for over 30 years. John was known for his fantastic sense of humor and his skills behind the grill. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1960. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Michael and his brother, Ronald Martin. John is survived by his partner, Carol Fabyanic; sons, Daniel, Arnie, Jamie, and Johnnie Martin; sisters, Sharon Kelly, Roddie Weigand, and Dorothy Myers as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. There will be a gathering at the Lincoln Street Diner on Monday, March 27th from 4 to 6 p.m. to celebrate John and share a joke in his memory. Burial will be in the spring at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Romulus. Contributions in memory of Mr. Martin may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
