MONCKS CORNER – Peggy "Pat" Hinson Grier, 85, passed away peacefully, with family by her side on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018.
She was the daughter of the late William "Doc" Hinson and Nancy Richardson Twitty. She was previously married to the late Marion Harris Grier, with whom she had four children, all of whom survived her: Sherry Grier Brown and Carla Grier Saulisbury, both of Moncks Corner, Marion "Mark" Harris Grier Jr. and his wife, Venise, of Lancaster, and Michael Christopher Grier and his wife, Patricia, of San Diego.
Survivors also include grandson, Kristan Beard (Jessica) of Lancaster; granddaughters, Anna Noriega (David) of San Antonio, Karisa of San Diego, and Sienna of Grants Pass, Ore.; and great-grandsons, Corey and Hayden, both of Lancaster, and Lane of San Antonio.
Pat enjoyed spending time with family and cooking for them, reading, listening to music and tending her cats, Joey and Jo Jo. She worked as a secretary; partnered with husband, Marion, to create a successful business, Barton Printing Company in Lancaster; owned and operated Mary Carter Paints, where she taught Whitestone painting classes for many years in Lancaster; partnered and operated a shrimp boat in Murrell's Inlet and in Crystal River, Fla.; and retired from Holiday Inn in Moncks Corner at the age of 80.
Pat was the last surviving of her siblings and was predeceased by Harry Hinson of Chapin, Pete Hinson of Jacksonville, Fla., William "Billy" Hinson of Columbia and Agnes Hinson Ferrill of Waco, Texas.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date and suggest memorials be made to the Katawba Valley Land Trust, PO Box 1776, Lancaster, South Carolina.
