Jonas Gray Obituary
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Dover, TN with Chaplain Michael Britton officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A Masonic service will be held at the graveside also.Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 4, 1936 in Stewart County, TN son of the late George Gray and Annie Hilmus Gray.
Mr. Gray was the owner of the Family Barber Shop for 53 years. He was a member of Masonic Queen City Lodge #761 and had recently received his 50 year pin.
Survivors include son Mike Gray (Sandra Ford), Clarksville; grandson, Michael Lee Gray, Clarksville; and a brother, Chester Gray, Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Shirley Bumpus Gray, four brothers, Lathon, Thornton, Eldon, and Wilford Gray; and two sisters, Bernice Acree and Violet Crowe.
Pallbearers will be Randy Peterson, Jim Durrett, Jay Harris, Tommy Williams, Tony Rucci, Frankie Gray, Billy Gray, and Warren Easterling.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his honor to Camp Rainbow, P.O. Box 3522, Clarksville, TN 37043 Arrangements entrusted to Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040. Online condolences may be made at www.neal-tarpley.com.

Russell was my barber and I considered him a friend. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. I will miss him.

Mike,
I was sorry to hear about the death of your father. I can remember he used to cut my hair as a kid. He would always give us a piece of bubble gum after he gave us a great flat-top. I can remember the smell of talcum powder and butch-wax that would permeate his shop.
I also remember he'd have his lawnchair at every high school baseball game.
He will be missed.

I was shocked to hear the news of Mr. Russells's passing. Unfortunatley we did not hear the news until Monday morning and were unable to attend services. I'm sorry for the loss of your father. He has been my barber since the early 80's and I have the greatest respect for him. Since he fell ill and had back surgery I haven't seen him much cause he quit working Saturdays. I was off last Monday so I made a trip up to see him...I'm glad I did. i will miss our conversations and his amazing whit.

Mike and family, I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Mr. Gray was a wonderful man, a great neighbor and I always felt safe, if Greg we gone, knowing he was there. For 21 years I have been blessed with knowing Mr. Gray. He loved my cooking and would call me if he needed something during his recovery from surgery. I will always be grateful to have known him. I love him as I would a father. I will miss and remember him as a wonderful man. God bless you and your family.
