SHAKESPEAR, 43
LAKELAND - Mr. Abraham Shakespear, 43, was born in Sebring, FL, April 24, 1966, and died January 28, 2010. He was a former employee of the city of Lakeland.
Mr. Shakespear leaves his children: Moses A. Shakespear and Jeremiyah Akyler; mother, Elizabeth Walker; sister Florastine Powell, and brothers: James Shakespear and Archie Junior Powell. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A time of remembrance and reflection will be held in the chapel of Coney Funeral Home Friday, 5-7pm. The funeral will be at 1pm at Sat. at New Bethel AME Church. Services entrusted to Coney Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at

Abraham was a beautiful man, with a wonderful warm gentle heart and soul. His mission, here on earth, is done. He continue's on to be with our Lord in Heaven. Please find comfort in knowing that he is not far away, and will be looking upon you with a smile!

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. I also worked at the credit union for the city employees and would see Shakespear almost every Friday. Sometimes, he would even wait and let others go ahead of him in line just to come to my window. My husband also works where he was recently a driver's helper. He was a very kind person. May God send you peace.

While the loss of a loved one is never easy, it is most certainly the hardest when they are taken from you too soon. Your recent loss of Abraham is certainly in the category of those hard losses.
I did not know Abraham personally, but heard from people who did~his kind and gentle nature, soft-spoken voice and helping others in need without a second thought. A good man and friend to all.
I offer my sincere condolences and deepest sympathy on your loss. May the outpouring of sympathy, the kind acts of friends and strangers and the comfort in knowing that your loss is felt by many, help you through this difficult time.
I ask for God's blessings on you, your wonderful family, and friends. May you find the courage and strength to move forward in peace, confidence, and dignity.

Abraham was a kind and gentle soul. He was always willing to help and would give you his shirt if you needed it. We are so saddened by all of this and will miss Abraham as he was our "friend". Rest in peace now. May God keep you in his loving presence always and bring peace and comfort to your mother and children.

Dear Liz:
I felt a great sense of shock and loss when I heard of Abraham’s death. My heart is truly saddened.
Abraham was more than just a wonderful person; He would always give of himself without hesitation, even when he knew that there was no benefit to him in doing so.
He was always there for his friends and family. It's just seems unreal to think that he's gone.
I know that Abraham’s passing will not only leave an emptiness in your life, but also in the hearts of all us who knew him.
He will always remain within our hearts, and you in our daily prayers. May God give you strength.
It seems unfair that God would take him away so soon. But, remember that God does not test people who do not have the courage to pass the test. So, it is important for you to keep the faith and move on with your life.
You have my greatest sympathy, and I want to let you know that I'm here for you and your family; that my sincere thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
