MELBOURNE - Eugene B. Culberson went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 4, 2018. He was born June 2, 1931, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Gerald and Margaret Culberson.
He graduated from the University of Florida School of Law and was later awarded the degree of Juris Doctor. He was a fitness enthusiast and a lifelong learner, particularly dedicated to the study of the Bible.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. From 1960 through 1970, he was a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, following which he was an Assistant United States Attorney. He settled into his best-loved calling at Illinois Central College, where he taught Police Science and developed that school's paralegal program.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Roberta, as well as his twin brother, Grey. Surviving are his brother Gerald Culberson and sister Suzanne Price Powell; two daughters, Bethann (and Michael) Schroeder, and Faith (and Kevin) Hoopingarner. He leaves six grandchildren: Stephen Schroeder, Christine Hackerd, Elizabeth Hall, Katherine Nyman, Meagan Buckingham, and Travis Hoopingarner.
On Friday, May 25 at 11 am, a memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales, 16 North 3rd Street, Lake Wales, Florida, where Eugene and Roberta were members.
