LAKELAND - Hal Stata made his transition November 29, 2018. Born February 3, 1945 in Charleston, West Virginia to Muncie and Opal (Heck) Stata. He served with the US Marine Corps in the Vietnam era.
He is survived by his wife, Joy (Olinger) Sneads, FL; sister, Norma (Jimmy) Starr-Johnson City, TN; daughter, Cathy 'Kitty' (Rick) Morrison, Lakeland, FL; son, Brooks Bullock, Virginia Beach, VA; stepdaughter, Stacee (Jim) Howell, stepson, Ray Gifford, Special daughter, Jackie Lawrence, all three of Sneads, FL and Special stepdaughter, Nancy (Jay) Carriere, Lakeland, FL. His seven grandchildren including Stata and Samantha Morrison, Ashley and Elyssa Bullock, Mallory Howell, Coner Brown-Gifford and McKenzie Bross-Gifford, and a great grandson due January 1, 2019, to Stata Morrison.
Hal was deeply involved in tournament water skiing and the marine industry through his life. He began his love of mechanics and boats and speed in the 1960's and was involved with the Austin Ski School in St Pete, FL, Florida Southern College Ski Team, Mercury Marine and Master Craft Boat Co., and chief mechanic for the 'Miller High Life Six Pack Navy' boat race team. He had a love of competition and things that went fast, whether it be water skiing, race cars, both real and remote control, dirt bikes and hunting, not to mention he could fix anything. He repaired firearms for two gun-shops in Lakeland, FL; was a former member and officer of the Lakeland Rifle and Pistol Club; a member and avid National Bench Rest Shooters Association participant; and, was the proprietor of the Roebuck, VA Clinch Mountain Hunt Club. Hal's commanding personality is missed by his family and remembered by all those he has met over his lifetime.

There will be party for Hal to be announced later to be held in Lakeland, FL. The Neptune Society is servicing the family. Special Thanks to the caregivers in the Sneads area and all the fishermen from Howell's Landing in Sneads, FL for the past five years.
