McGHEE, Sr., 84

LAKELAND - Thomas Leroy McGhee Sr., age 84, died on December 11, 2018. He was born in Kennett, MO on April 11, 1934 to Odessa (Reed) McGhee and Joseph Albert McGhee. In 1950 he married Peggy Lee Materson, they had 2 sons, Thomas McGhee and Michael McGhee. This marriage ended and he married Rosalee Ann Tuggle on September 28, 1954. They had 7 children. Denise (Bob) Youngclaus, Thomas McGhee, Jr., Deborah Francis, Timothy Mc-Ghee, Donna (John) Lund, Cynthia (Nathan) Duncan and Deanna (Greg) Sunday.
In 1964,Tom graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Pharmacy. Tom was more than a Pharmacist. He had a deep passion for flying and sharing a world among the clouds. While raising his family in Kennett, MO, he was actively involved in the community, he owned and operated McGhee Drug Store for many years as well as a Flight School at the Kennett Municipal Airport. When he and Rosie moved to Florida in 1989, he continued Pharmacy and flying, starting McGhee Aviation in Winter Haven and Lakeland. Tom inspired many people to become pharmacists and pilots. He will be deeply missed by so many.
Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosie, his son, Mike, his parents, siblings, John David McGhee, Demaris Ann McGhee, Odessa Sample and Joe McGhee. Survivors include brothers, Robert McGhee, Charles Mc-Ghee and 8 children, 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom called him 'Pop.'.
