RHOADES, 93

HAINES CITY - Betty R. Rhoades, 93, born June 12, 1924; passed away January 8, 2018 at Heart of Florida Medical Center.
She was a longtime resident of Haines City. She was born in Johnstown, PA, and a graduate from Dale Borough H.S.
She was married to Robert E. Rhoades in November, 1945. They resided in Pennsylvania, New Mexico Maryland, Illinois, Florida, Utah, Tennessee, and finally in Florida. Bob passed away in Oct. 1988.
Betty is survived by two children: Lee R. Rhoades son and Karen A. (Rhoades) Patelunas, both of Haines City, two grandchildren, Jason Rhoades and Lisa Patelunas, two great grandchildren, Carissa and Kayla, also two nieces and three nephews.
Betty was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an active member of the New Horizons Methodist Church.
Betty served as a volunteer at the voting polls. Betty also volunteered at the Heart of Florida Medical Center for more than 30 years. She loved working on ceramic projects at the Haines Park District. She liked to play Bingo and CLR at her club house. She was an active and well loved member of the community and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years and her two sisters.
A memorial service will be held at the New Horizon Church at 400 Orchid Terrace, Haines City, FL 33844 on Friday, February 2 at 1 p.m. Phone 863-422-1290 to celebrate life. Please no flowers, instead please donate to the charity of your choice.
