McALLEN- Dr. Bert Levine passed away on March 7, 2007 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he served in the U.S. Marine Corp in WWII He attended Long Island University and received his PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Levine came to Harlingen in the late 50's as the first psychologist in the valley. He was instrumental in making psychology a licensed profession in Texas. Dr. Levine began teaching at Pan American University in the late 50's and retired as a professor in 1992. He maintained a private practice in McAllen for over 40 years.
Surviving him are four sons, Matthew, Jason, Jordi and Perry and four grandchildren.
Dr. Levine dedicated his life to helping those in need from one end of the Valley to the other. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.
Visitation with the family will be between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Kreidler Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Arrangement were entrusted to the care of Kreidler Funeral Home, Inc.

Not sure what made me think of Dr. Levine this morning. I had him as a professor at Pan American College; I believe it was my senior year there in 1969-1970. He was a good & interesting teacher; A positive experience; I enjoyed his class. Rest in Peace, Dr. Levine.
