BETTYE SHRYOCK Obituary

BETTYE JO BARTLETT MCANEAR SHRYOCK "MS. MAC" The curtain rose for Bettye Jo Bartlett McAnear Shryock "Ms. Mac" on October 24, 1932. Her final curtain fell on February 7, 2014. Her next act begins as she sings and dances for God and His angels. She was born to Joseph Gilbert Shryock and Gladys Davis Shryock in Clarendon, Arkansas. After graduating from high school as head of the cheerleading squad and a basketball star, BJ "Skippy" went on to have her own radio show. Her talents spanned many of the Fine Arts allowing her participation as a founding member alongside Buzz and Joan Aldrin of the Clear Creek Community Theatre, chorus member in the New Orleans Opera, Director of the Upstairs Melodramers, Director of the Valley International Players, McAllen Opera Guild, Mu Phi Epsilon, Steven Stoli's Playhouse, San Antonio Theatre Arts Council, UIW Extended Run Players, Cadenza Singers, choir member at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, and a Music/Drama/Art/English teacher for over twenty years. She worshipped with the wonderful family at All Saint's Anglican Church and was also a member of the Daughters of the King and the Daughters of the Holy Cross. Those left behind to carry on her memories are her sister, Roslyn; sons, Fred (Beverly) and Jim (Genie); daughters, Bunny (Ronny) and Melody (Oscar); and two wonderful nieces, Teri (David) and Tracee (Doug) and her nephew Chris (Shonna). She leaves as a remarkable legacy 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and numerous friends and extended family. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. MEMORIAL SERVICE SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2014, 11:00 A.M.
