Robert Kaninsky Obituary

Kaninsky, Robert "Bob" was born in Weidman Michigan on September 2, 1931 and transitioned to heaven on February 5, 2018, while at home surrounded by his family. He enlisted in the Army in 1950 and was in Japan for two years. Bob was sent to Korea at the outbreak of the Korean War. He served as a 50 caliber gunner on a half track. He served proudly and returned proudly. He worked at the General Telephone company for 41 years. Funeral Services for Bob will be held at the Pine Chapel in Blanchard on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tom Olrich officiating. Visitation will be held at the church starting at 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place in the Blanchard Cemetery at a later date. Bob's family would like to thank the staff at the Laurels for their care and compassion through this difficult time. He is survived by his bride Barbara of 65 years and four children, Robert (Kum) Kaninsky Jr., Stephen (Karen) Kaninsky, Pamela (Daniel) Stone, Philip (Lois) Kaninsky. Nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one sister. He is proceeded in death by his parents, four sisters, one grandson, and one daughter-in-law. Bob was known for is rope trick routines and was referred to as Buffalo Bob. He enjoyed performing and teaching others. Bob loved our Precious Jesus. He was often found sitting in his chair reading his Bible or asleep holding it. He was an active supporter of Voice of the Martyrs. Father we thank you for blessing our life with Bob. We thank you for the time he was given to us. We now give him back to you. Romans 14:7-9 "For we don't live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it's to honor the Lord. And if we die, it's to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead."
