Donald Patrick Cotter Obituary
Cotter, Donald Patrick Donald Cotter, 92, of Beal City passed away Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility. A Funeral Mass for Don will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Beal City with Father Thomas Held as celebrant. Burial and military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Beal City Knights of Columbus Hall. The family will receive friends in the gathering room of the church on Monday from 2-8 p.m. with the Vigil beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church or School. Envelopes will be available at the church or at Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home. Don was born January 17, 1926, in Beal City, son of the late John and Katherine (Schafer) Cotter. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946 during World War II. On June 25, 1949, he married Arlene Yuncker at St. Philomena Church in Beal City. A dairy farmer since a young age, Don also spent eight years on the Isabella County Road Commission and another 17 years as a bus driver for Beal City Public Schools. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and served as past Grand Knight of the Beal City Knights of Columbus Council 3651. He enjoyed playing cards and had a wonderful sense of humor. But more than anything, Don loved his family. Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Arlene; six children, Gary (Janet) Cotter of Elwell and Richard (Jane) Cotter, Leon (Kathy) Cotter, Wayne Cotter, Michele (Kevin) Esch, and Dean (Cindy) Cotter, all of Beal City; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; three siblings, Irene Suman of Lake Isabella, Ken (Sharon) Cotter of Mt. Pleasant, and Betty (Olan) Black of Middleton; sisters-in-laws, Karen Cotter and Loretta Cotter, both of Mt. Pleasant, Joyce Yuncker and Linda Yuncker both of Beal City, Joan Yuncker of Lake Isabella, and Dolores (Don) Krueger of Weidman; brother-in-law, Raymond Pung of Weidman; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three grandsons, Ryan Cotter, Jeremy Cotter, and Zachary Cotter; and siblings, Ruth Pung, Vada Howell, Patrick Cotter, and Dave Cotter.
